What it does

Now playing

Title, artwork, a seekable progress bar and controls for Spotify, Apple Music, browsers and any app that uses Windows' media controls. The music bars follow the actual sound.

Alerts that stay out of the way

Volume and brightness, battery, devices with earbud battery, mic and camera in use, Caps Lock, copy and paste, Do Not Disturb, Wi-Fi and VPN, calendar reminders.

Pages when you expand it

Home with timers and a stopwatch, Notifications, a Calendar with Join buttons for meetings, a file Shelf, Weather and quick-launch Apps.

Two activities at once

A timer or stopwatch in the island with music in a bubble beside it.

Your look

Island or notch shape, opaque, translucent or Liquid Glass, accent colors from your music or wallpaper, and Wallpaper Engine controls.

Light on your PC

Event-driven, so it does almost nothing while nothing changes: about 0.2–0.9% of one CPU core when idle on the developer's machine.

Install

  1. Download the installer

    Use the button above. It comes straight from the official GitHub release.

  2. Check the file (optional, recommended)

    In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\D-Island-Setup-1.0.0.exe and compare it with the SHA-256 below.

  3. Run it

    Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the installer isn't code-signed yet. Choose More info → Run anyway once you've checked the file.

  4. Open Settings

    Double-click the tray icon. Ctrl+Alt+I hides and shows the island.

Official downloads come only from this page and from GitHub Releases. Copies from anywhere else (other repositories, forks, mirrors, download sites) aren't authorised and may have been modified. D-Island can read notifications and the clipboard, so only install an official copy.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11
  • Everything else is included; no separate .NET install
  • Notifications and the Windows calendar need a one-time setup inside the app

Privacy

  • No accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking
  • Almost everything it reads stays on your PC, in memory
  • Goes online only for weather, calendar links you add, and Apple Music artwork if you switch that on
  • Every feature can be turned off in Settings

License and contributing

D-Island is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0: use it, study it, change it and share it. The license doesn't cover the names "D-Island", "h7" or "ibuildrigs", so modified versions must use a different name and not present themselves as official.
